Our shooting for day 2 was successful, although we got didn't record a lot shots, we utilised the time we had. The shooting was in and around our Sixth Form, which we propose to show as a University and will soon need to record shots actually around the University.

Shooting Day 1
We had one of our important locations tested and footage some of this
footage could possibly be used for the final video. This location was
the rooftop of a car park on New Malden high street. We have thought of
some very good ideas, for the final video, in addition we had previously
learnt the importance of cut-away and saw a major opportunity to shoot
some at the rooftop, we had learnt this from our research where we could
see a lot of cut-away's used which allowed to let the viewer piece by
piece create the location.
We had also learnt something very important to look out for whilst doing this shoot which was about the; the lighting, which could show your shadow, in addition is the, camera angle and where the camera is facing.
You may just be able to see the shadow on the bottom left, this was one of the problems we realised instantly, the cameraman needs to be placed in accordance with the artist but somewhere the artist is not deeply effected by the natural light or the camera and the cameraman is not effected, finding this position was difficult but, in the end we were able to good shots. We were able to find angles where neither would be effected, examples of this are shown below.

Risk Assessment - Shaq
one problem we may encounter is the fact that a lot of our locations are outside and therefore we become dependent on the weather, being that it is now winter and we are due to begin filming this is something we will have to take into consideration.
another problem may be the storyline, it is important to have enough story in order to run throughout the video. in our case we may have to much, this is only if we successfully execute all the shots we plan to. if we do then we will have to ensure we maintain the balance between storyline and performance. which is okay considering the general rule in music video being that it is better to have too much footage to choose from than not enough footage for what you need.
along with this we have to establish a few main locations or shots that we often refer back to in order to give the video stability. if you used too many random locations the video will appear messy and har to grasp.

SWOT ANALYSIS
Strength
- We have a very an effective storyline, which is simple but effective and is definately achievable for the time limit we have been give.
2. The prodution side will not be to hard as it is not expensive and then do not need a big budget.
3. We have a reliable cast who are comonly available for our filming.
Weakness
1. We need to pull together and to overlook each other that task are comleted and film and edit in time.
2. Final cut is not really known by all of the group members and if the person who knows final cut the best is ill this could really effect the editing for the group and could jeopardise the group meeting the deadline for the final movie.
Oppurtunities
1. We have access to a green screen, which could have many ideas executed on and would be a great addition to the video.
2. A lot of additional equipment that could be used in our video, including some very good camera equipment.
Threats
1. Health and safety threats are the main concern, a possible loaction which is on the roof could be an issue.
2. There is good equipment although, it is in a limited amount, meaning anohter group could be using the equipment and this could be abig problem,

Permission from Artist
We had to search around the web, to look for 'Angel' contact address, the only other way to contact him was through Twitter or Facebook, we chose twitter as we had previously heard of other Media students going through and getting permission from the artists through this method of using Twitter. Although by luck, we stumbled on his Facebook page and found a email for fans, this was late but we still thought to it is worth while to email 'Angel' even thougth we had tweeted him already.
Above is the screenshot of us asking 'Angel' for his permission to use his song as the base to our Music video.
Below is the screenshot of the email sent to 'Angel' again for his permission.

Band identity - shaq
the main artist in our video is the singer, the singer has a unique image. this is because he is a singer who manages to maintain a reputation or an image of a very urban act whilst appealing to the mass audience also. we must think about this in deciding the way he dresses.
the original artist: clean cut, leather jackets, hats, slim fit jeans. no excess amounts of jewellery, often bright vibrant colours.

as you can see here he is wearing a bright jacket and sun glasses giving the impression of glamour however not displaying heavy jewellery, instead he wears beads around his neck maintaining his image as someone who is humble and down to earth.

this picture displays artist from a song in the same genre as ours, how they have represented this can be useful to us. this like ours is a unique situation because the song is a mixture of both singing (R'n'B/Pop) and rap. this means within the dress code you have to represent both sides. if you notice the singer is the man in the middle who is wearing a hat. he is wearing a hat to tie him in with the urban image of the rappers.. giving them chemistry. the positioning is also important as he is in the middle, between the 2 rappers, showing that they are 2 different acts and that he is slightly different to them as he is a singer but still able to relate to them therefore bringing there different images together.

Initial Pitch-draft
Simultaneously showing
performance and the story line.
Wretch- Shaq
Angel- Ashad? –Harris?
Story: The maturing of a kid
becoming an adult. The kid then is living up to his dream to become an artist.
· Showing the change from young to old
· The transformation of the dream; chasing it and then
achieving it
· Use trees, cars and lifts for transformations
· Keeping contrast but also variety of performance
shots
· Example: Kid writing lyrics with headphones on and in
contrast of him grown up in the studio singing
· Instruments and dancing on stage
· Location: Car park roof, Stage in school, Park,
Studio, College/University, Estate and Lift.
· Keeping the look of a grime but in contrast with pop
and R&B
Establishing shot showing the kids whole body and the street, then show
a close up of his feet as he is walking. Followed by a side on shot and a shot
over the shoulder. Finishing with a front on shot as he turns the corner.
The singer would start singing for few seconds then it will change to
the performance shot on the roof. The performance shots will be continuously
switching between each other throughout the video. This will be in conjunction
with the storyline.
In order for the performance shots not to be tedious, some of the
performance shots will be introduced later on; there will be shots with each
artist within them and shots were they are together in the shots a two shot.
Lyrics-‘cant give up the fight’- having the older version shadow
boxing. Preparing for a run.
The different clip and cut away: writing lyrics on
a notepad, microphone, drawing guitar in detention, practicing in front of the
mirror, running for the bus.

initial thoughts on lyrics - shaq
Due to the lyrics being descriptive there are lines and words that can be emphasised visually through props
such as:
"BB", "read each card", "given on no plate" "give up the fight" "underground... buskers" "pie... cake.... custard"
the contrast between the rapping and the singing is good because we are going to be emphasizing the contrast of the past and present, so in any way the theme of contrast is a good one to introduce.
there is a theme of hard work and struggle within the lyrics... 'cant give up the fight'... 'i never made whats easy hard'....then how this has changed over time and is now success
the lyrics are reminiscent, contemplative, looking back on the past which is part of what inspired us with our theme of interchanging between past and present. "always remember those days"
the vocals are confident and the performance must mirror this; although the song touches on previous parts of their lives in which they weren't so happy, they celebrate the fact they are now doing well and our confident in the talent they possess.

Song lyrics - Go In Go Hard
Lyrics to Angel- Go in go hard Ft Wretch32:
"When I go in, when I go hard There's nobody else on my level
When I go near, when I go far It's over, over
i Never made what's easy hard, thankful for my gift I'ma read each card
This is in my jeans like my BB dawg, when The faith dies give it that CPR
Always remember those days when I couldn't go play I was singing all day
No pain, they say there's no gain Wasn't given on no plate I had to work hard I was
frustrated I made mistakes and they hated So I prayed then
I know it's gonna come my way I'll be singing to the world some day
cant give up the fight I know wrong from right I'ma keep it tight
Where the darkness I could find, light was shining bright
'Cause I know when I go in, when I go hard There's nobody else on my level
When I go near, when I go far It's over, over '
Cause I came to shut it down Til' there ain't no trace of doubt
When I go in, when I go hard It's over, over
Check Since I've been going in, there scared of coming out
I hit 'em with a hit, their blood's rushing now
i feel like Im the ish, but still its unannounced
So when I top the charts, I ain't coming down
My drive ain't driven by numbers
I'm from the underground, seen the best deprived buskers
i ain't got a piece of the pie So we should think about the cake
next time we're buying custard
Hunger in my belly, could have turned my knees to jelly
Now my vision gets channeled through the telly
cant give up the fight I know wrong from right, I'ma keep it tight
Where the darkness I could find, a light was shining bright
'Cause I know when I go in, when I go hard There's nobody else on my level
When I go near, when I go far It's over, over (It's over)
'Cause I came to shut it down Til' there ain't no trace of doubt
When I go in, when I go hard It's over, over T
hey've been telling me what they want me to be But I,
no I made a bigger promise to me And I,
put it away so I'ma get one of these days One day I'll know
When I go in, when I go hard There's nobody else on my level

Genre research
Genre Research
This is our genre research from
our main artist Angel whose genre is R&B, POP, GRIME.
R&B
Rhythm and blues, often
abbreviated to R&B and RnB, is a genre of popular African-American music
that originated in the 1940s. The term was originally used by record companies
to describe recordings marketed predominantly to urban African Americans, at a
time when "urbane, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy, insistent beat" was
becoming more popular.
POP
As a genre, pop music is very
eclectic, often borrowing elements from other styles including urban, dance,
rock. Such include generally short-to-medium length songs, written in a basic
format (often the verse-chorus structure), as well as the common employment of
repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and catchy hooks. pop features all these
elements, utilising electric guitars, drums and bass for instrumentation
GRIME
Grime is typified by complex
2-step, 4X4, breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, or sometimes
structured around a halftime rhythm, and constructed from different synth,
string and electronic sounds.[2] Stylistically, grime draws on many genres
including UK garage, British hip hop and dancehall.[6] The lyrics and music
combine futuristic electronic elements and dark, guttural bass lines
Influential videos
One video that we felt influenced us was, I made It-Kevin Rudolf Ft Birdman, Jay Sean and Lil- Wayne.
This video influenced us for one main reason, this video shows clips flashing between the past and present, emphasising their achievements throughout their careers. We would like to take this into consideration for our final planning. Our video will differ because we will be representing our artists journey through their early lives. This will be achieved through using symbols to signify young and old.
Another video that has influenced us is, the Renault +4years ad.
This is an advert, representing 4 years of their life within a short montage. This influenced us because we are looking to show different clips which will give the viewer an image of our artist's life, within a short space of time, something which has been done in this advert. In this advert we are walking through with them in their lives and we could show in our video that the artist is maturing, chasing towards their dream.
Another video which was very influencing is, John Lewis Ad 2010 - Fyfe Dangerfield 'She's AlwaysA Woman' .
This advert shows the transformation of age, our idea is related to this, although this advert is towards life on a whole, our idea is based around the growing upon a dream and working towards it and then to be actually living the dream. The clever use of transformations used throughout the advert i something we could learn from and maybe use some similar transformations, it could be a old method; walking behind the tree and finding out the person has grown up or changed.
